Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) made our country proud recently after breaking into the top 100 of the Asia University Rankings 2023 released by the Times Higher Education.
Sharing the good news on its official Facebook page, UUM revealed that it made a commendable improvement in the ranking over the past three years, jumping 56 spots since 2021.
In fact, the public university rose significantly in the ranking from last year, from placing 148th in 2022 to 99th this year.
The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2023 which ranks 669 universities throughout Asia also confirmed that UUM is the second-best public university in Malaysia behind Universiti Malaya (UM).
UM is the highest-ranking Malaysian university on the list, placing 66th. Making up the top 5 Malaysian public universities are Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) at 3rd (149th in Asia), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) at 4th (154th in Asia) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) at 5th (161st in Asia).
As reported by BERNAMA, UUM Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Fo’ad Sakdan asserted that in this year’s ranking, UUM shares the 99th position with 3 foreign universities, namely Jazan University, Saudi Arabia; University of International Business and Economics, China and Cankaya University, Turkiye.
He attributed the achievement to the efforts and commitment of the entire UUM community to making the university a leading management university and ensuring the success of the UUM Strategic Plan.
