Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as Uncle Kentang, has dedicated his life to helping those in need. Now, he is planning to recognise others who go above and beyond to assist others through his very own award!
Taking to his Facebook page, Uncle Kentang announced his ‘Malaysia Kind Heart Awards’, which is meant to appreciate and recognise members of the public who have changed people’s lives for the better and made a positive impact.

What makes the award extra special is that the trophy is topped with a kentang (potato)!
He wrote, “Our ‘Malaysia Kind Heart Awards’ will be held on 7 and 8 May (Thursday and Friday) 2026. The kentang symbolises empathy and the true spirit of humanity. I wanted it to be significant. There are many trophies in your display case. I want something that stands out. No trophy yet has a kentang (potato) on it.”
The potential recipients
Uncle Kentang went on to share that recipients include doctors, firefighters and others who have displayed kindness beyond the norm.

“We will be posting the recipients on our pages and websites. Why are they chosen? It is based on the values of how they have impacted others. Surgeons, doctors, and firefighters are in the list of names. Those who spoke up, those whose hands get jobs done, the spirit and strength in rescues. All will not be forgotten,”
“This is the ultimate trophy that you would love to put on your shelf for display. True, ultimate kindness.”
We genuinely cannot wait to see who will be the recipients of Uncle Kentang’s new and coveted ‘Malaysia Kind Heart Awards’. What do you think about this? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
