“Every day is the same to him” – Penang Eatery Treats Homeless Man Unaware of New Year to Hearty Meal

A Penang eatery is reminding the general public that the arrival of the New Year is not a celebration for everyone, as some merely see the holiday as just another day due to their hardships.

Taking to their Facebook page, Nasi Kandar Sulaiman shared how a homeless man with a disability who had gone to their restaurant was unaware that the New Year had arrived. To him, the date changes nothing about his challenging reality.

They wrote, “The life of a homeless person who doesn’t even know that the New Year has come. Entering the New Year is not the same for everyone. Some homeless people don’t even know that the New Year has come. Only after we told him did he know. This is the life of a homeless person who is disabled. They live to the point of not knowing what’s going on outside.”

“For them, every day is the same. Nothing changes. Living by hoping people will give them food. Sleeping on the side of the road. Having no one. It’s really a pity that their challenges are truly difficult,” the eatery added.

 

A meal to ease the burdens

Thankfully, the eatery has customers who donate money, which is then used to provide meals to the underprivileged. The homeless man was given a meal.

“Whatever it is, we treated this Pak Cik to a meal using donation money. We gave him a special meal.”
