UMNO Member Reportedly Found Positive For Covid-19 After Campaigning in Sabah

Though the Sabah 2020 state elections are just around the corner, the threat of Covid-19 still looms over the whole country. Recently, one of the leaders of UMNO was reported to be positive for Covid-19 after his campaign in Sipitang.

As reported by Astro Awani,  the UMNO highest council member is currently undergoing a mandatory quarantine for further treatment.

Those who have been in close contact with the UMNO leader have also been asked to take swab tests to avoid other transmissions.

The Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob

However, the Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob stated that there is no official statement received regarding the matter so far.

He also stated that if the news were true and the individual is tested positive, then he must be quarantined in Sabah until he recovers.

“That is why I always tell people to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government.” he was as quoted saying as reported by Astro Awani.

Ismail Sabri also stressed that the committee within the cabinet will discuss the issue of health and safety in Sabah for the upcoming state election.
