GE15 is just a little over 2 weeks away and campaigns are in full swing. Consequently, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has released a statement asking political parties to be mindful of where they display their campaign materials.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) reminds political parties not to install campaign materials on any of the company’s premises and electrical installations during the campaigning period for GE-15 which runs from November 5-18, 2022.

TNB’s Chief Distribution Network Officer Wan Nazmy Wan Mahmood said that hanging/pasting campaign materials at TNB premises and electrical installations is dangerous and can interfere with TNB’s maintenance work.

“It is dangerous because there is a risk of electric shock. It may also cause a power outage if an arc spark (flashover) occurs, damaging property and even threatening life. Furthermore, it may also prevent TNB employees from gaining access for maintenance works and supply restoration,” he said in the statement today.

TNB explained that the ban includes pasting or hanging posters, flags and banners on transmission towers, electricity poles, supply boxes, substations, concrete electricity poles and overhead lines.

The public is also advised not to hold, carry or install flagpoles under any electricity transmission lines including flagpoles made of bamboo, as they can cause electric shocks to those nearby.

Let’s hope for a safe and peaceful campaigning period!
