Did you know that there are self-service restaurants in Malaysia that operate fully based on trust?

Shocking, isn’t it? Especially considering how there are so many bad eggs in our community that could potentially ruin this for everyone else.

Netizen, @_NazriH, took to his Twitter account to showcase a video of a restaurant where customers have to pack their own mixed rice meal, calculate the costs themselves and leave money (and take their change) or pay via a QR code all on their own accord.

He wrote, “They’re doing a business like they’re selling at a college. Customers who come here have to take their own dishes, pack it themselves, calculate the costs themselves and pay. Everything comes down to the honesty of the customers. I suspect that the owner is an introvert.”

In the restaurant, there are notices that showcase the pricing of the dishes, as well as instructions on how they operate.

“Self service. Please do the calculations for the prices yourself and leave your payments in the container provided. If you are unsure, please take a picture of your food and send it over in a WhatsApp to this number (number provided).”

“We would also like to inform you that there are no staff members to help you pack the food and do the calculations of the prices. Payments can be made daily, weekly or monthly,” their notice read.

What’s most shocking about all of this is the fact that they’ve left the container with the payments (for people to leave money and take their change) open and unguarded, completely relying on the trust they have for their customers to do the right thing.

We genuinely hope that no irresponsible or dishonest people ruin this for the rest of the community.
