Getting good results, especially in A-Level, can open gateways to the world’s top universities, giving you the chance to achieve remarkable milestones on a global scale.

That is the promising future that lies ahead for the 52% of Sunway College students who achieved straight A*/As in the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) examinations.

Continuing its proven academic track record through its Cambridge GCE A-Level programme, 248 Sunway College students, representing 52% of the candidates, scored straight A*/As, while the entire exam cohort of 477 students achieved a 100% pass rate.

“The continued pursuit of excellence is exemplified by the dedication and hard work of our students and lecturers,” said Ruth Cheah, Director of Programme, Cambridge GCE A-Level.

Sunway College has consistently been recognised as the nation’s best-performing A-Level college, and these latest results are a testament to the commitment of our entire academic community and our nurturing culture.”

Sunway College’s academic excellence took centre stage again at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA), with 14 students awarded 16 accolades in total at the ceremony in May. Sunway College has consistently recorded the highest number of OCLA awards among institutions in Malaysia since 2014.

Accolades such as these are proof that Sunway College is a leading institution in producing outstanding students.

The future leaders making it all happen

It’s not all about exams and awards. On the world stage, three A-Level students representing Malaysia — Goh Jun Thean, Wong Pin Hao, and Eugene Wong Zane Shaun — recently competed against 302 of the world’s brightest young biologists from 78 countries at the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2026 in Lithuania.

Goh made history as the first Malaysian to win a Gold Medal at the International Biology Olympiad, ranking 24th worldwide. Wong Pin Hao and Eugene Wong Zane Shaun followed closely by receiving the Merit Awards and placing 201st and 204th in the world, respectively.

“I am very happy and proud to be the first Malaysian to win a Gold Medal at the IBO 2026,” Goh said. “The examinations were definitely tough and challenging, so the results came as a pleasant surprise to me.”

“As I had to miss several classes due to training camps, I am especially grateful to my lecturers for their support in helping me catch up with my schoolwork. It has been a truly wonderful academic journey at Sunway College. With dedicated and passionate lecturers, my preparation for the A-Level examinations was smooth and fulfilling.”

Goh’s achievement is made possible in part by Sunway College’s extracurricular support. He is grateful for the Sunway Education Student LIFE sponsorship, which helped cover fees associated with his competition.

The place for future leaders

With generous scholarships and diverse university pathways Sunway College’s A-Level students have access to, these changemakers were given the freedom and opportunity to reach their potential on an international scale, with even more on the way.

This year, eight A-Level students received offers of admission from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. Meanwhile, the only Malaysian student accepted into Harvard University this year is from Sunway College, who received a 90% financial grant.

Backed by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation’s (JCF) steadfast commitment to education, with over RM1.05 billion awarded in scholarships and grants, these milestones reinforce Sunway College’s position as the best-performing A-Level college in empowering students to pursue their dreams.

September 2026 intake for Sunway is now in progress.
