A 51-year-old Thai man was arrested on 10 September 2026 after he was allegedly caught entering a private fish pond at Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 66 in Bangkok.

The incident reportedly took place on 7 September, with the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showing the suspect arriving on a bicycle before parking it beside the fish pond.

Thai police arrest man over alleged sexual abuse of koi fish

According to Pol. Col. Yutthasilp Karin, chief of Thung Song Hong Police Station, the suspect was seen walking around the pond before allegedly exposing himself and trying to catch a koi fish, as reported by Khaosod English.

He then reportedly stripped naked, climbed into the pond and caught one of the koi, which he used to commit a sexual act before returning the fish to the pond.

After discovering the incident, the homeowner lodged a police report. Officers spotted the suspect a few days later wearing the same clothes he was allegedly wearing during the incident, leading to his arrest.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted that he was the man seen in the CCTV footage. However, he claimed that he had initially gone to the area to take a bath, but became sexually aroused, caught the fish, and used it to masturbate twice.

Suspect admitted to using drugs

During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to using drugs and told police that he had engaged in similar behaviour with other fish.

He claimed that he avoided sucker fish because of their spines, while koi caused him less pain.

He allegedly went on to claim that he had previously sexually abused a female dog with puppies, which led to his arrest by Bang Khen police and subsequent imprisonment. He also reportedly admitted to sexually abusing a doll he found at a rubbish dump.

He also reportedly told investigators that he did not have the money to pay for sex and did not have a partner.

Police are continuing to question the suspect and gather evidence, with investigators considering charges including animal cruelty, causing property damage, committing an indecent act, and nighttime trespassing.
