The issue of ‘chopping’ parking has resurfaced again as a video of two people fighting over a parking spot at a mall in KL has made its way onto social media.
The incident involving a Toyota Vios driver and a woman believed to be driving a Perodua Myvi took centre stage on social media.
In her video caption, she shared, “This man left his wife to wait in the parking square while he made a dash to park after going around the parking lot.”
“There is no place for you to start booking your spot, when a spot is open for cars to park.”
The man, clearly perturbed with what took place, began the video by saying, “This is my parking spot.”
The woman, who had apparently parked in his ‘booked’ spot simply repeated that you cannot ‘chop’ your parking spot, as it is a carpark, not a human park.
“You cannot ‘chop’ parking. You cannot. I didn’t even hit her when I parked. You should have gone and searched for another parking spot.”
The angry man responded: “I was making my way to this spot. Why did you park in my spot?”
“I was going around to park here before you came along.”
He eventually left the scene after his wife had calmed him down and asked to find another parking spot.

Let’s do better in 2024 and ensure that our car parks are meant for cars, not human traffic cones, shall we?
