Attention, Malacca folks! Get ready to build your way into history because Malacca has achieved another historic milestone! The city’s first-ever LEGO® Certified Store has officially opened its doors at AEON Bandaraya Melaka. Spanning 1,302 square feet of pure LEGO magic, this store is nestled right in the heart of the vibrant Baba Nyonya cultural heritage district.

Get ready to unlock a world of imagination and creativity

Staying true to the brand’s dedication to nurturing play, the LEGO Group is taking the joy of building to the next level by blending local traditions with creative play. This landmark opening will feature a first-of-its-kind 3D model of a Nyonya lady built entirely from LEGO bricks, a Pick and Build Wall, a Graphic Pillar, a Play Table, and a Build a Minifigure station – reinforcing the LEGO Group’s commitment to creativity, culture and fun.

Commentating on the latest LEGO Store opening, Nina Patricia Da Costa, General Manager of Singapore, Malaysia and APAC Travel Retail at the LEGO Group said: “For history and cultural enthusiasts, this LEGO Certified Store in Malacca is a new destination and attraction in itself. At the LEGO Group, we focus on the intended customer experience and the extension of play. With the various ethnicities in Malaysia, we are proud to be able to incorporate Malacca’s local cultural heritage into colourful LEGO bricks, further bringing LEGO play up a notch.”

3D LEGO Nyonya Lady

The 3D Nyonya lady model, expertly crafted by Alen Zhang, the LEGO Group’s model builder specialist, beautifully embodies the rich Baba Nyonya heritage through intricate LEGO artistry. Sharing his passion for building, Zhang said, “Creating this model was not just about assembling bricks; it was about telling the story of the local culture, which the LEGO Group wanted to honour and also celebrate the Malacca city’s vibrant cultural identity through the colourful bricks.”

Graphic Pillar of Malacca streets

In addition to the Nyonya lady, the new store will feature a stunning Graphic Pillar showcasing iconic historical landmarks in Malacca, including the red-hued Stadthuys and the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum, both intricately crafted from LEGO bricks. For the first time, visitors can marvel at these creations alongside LEGO minifigures dressed in traditional Baba Nyonya attire, holding local kuihs, making ondeh-ondeh, taking selfies as tourists, and enjoying trishaw rides through the scenes. The pillar, with its four-sided design, captures the vibrant essence of the heritage.

The LEGO Certified Store brings the LEGO Group’s passion for interactive play to life with a host of exciting features! Dive into creativity at the Pick and Build Wall, stocked with a rainbow of LEGO bricks in all shapes and sizes for endless building possibilities. Get hands-on at the Play Table, where you can let your imagination run wild. And don’t miss the Build a Minifigure station, where you can design your own personalised minifigure—maybe even a mini version of yourself!

With this array of engaging features, there is surely something fun for everyone—making the LEGO Certified Store the perfect place for the whole family to unleash their creativity!

Pick Build Wall

This store opening is part of the LEGO Group’s ongoing retail strategy to offer a wide range of innovative products that blend shopping with entertainment. The new store exemplifies the brand’s ethos of play, which has captured the hearts of families and children for generations, now extending into Malacca’s shores.
