Remember the time when ripped jeans were considered outrageous? Well, it isn’t anymore now, but this particular pair may be a bit OTT if you ask us.
Los Angeles-made label, Carmar Denim just released a new pair of jeans that has put ripped jeans to shame by taking cut-outs to a whole new level, according to Business Insider.
I mean, just look at how much skin is exposed! Might as well not wear anything, LOL.
The “extreme cut-out” jeans is quite literal to its name as it’s cut out in almost every area and it costs a whopping USD168 (approx. RM660) too. That’s very pricey for a pair of jeans with so little fabric.
Described as “high rise pant with large statement cut-outs on the front and back” on its site, the pair of jeans comes with only hemlines and pockets. Hey, at least they kept the pockets!
Not only that, the material is non-stretch (100% cotton) and comes in a “relax fit”. Comfort is not a question with this jeans, so airy too!
However, despite this pair of denim just comprising hemlines and pockets, they need to be “hand washed cold”. Yup, you can’t put it in the washing machine.
Well, their site featured models wearing the peculiar jeans over a one-piece bathing suit, at a theme park no less. So, maybe you can copy this style and if you’re really digging the exposed look.
Meanwhile, netizens who caught wind of this outrageous denim didn’t shy away from being an online fashion police, with many ridiculing the “extreme cut-out” jeans. One said on Twitter,
“Please, somebody tell me this is a joke shop and there aren’t people dumb enough to pay USD168 for this.”
Another person wrote,
“It’s almost like they ran out of ideas. Hey guys, let’s come up with some ideas for some new fashion! *Guy in the back raises hand* ‘I know! Let’s make pants that look like a harness’. Literally, the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Nevertheless, let’s not forget that this isn’t the first time a ridiculous pair of jeans have been introduced. Prior to this, denim-lovers were introduced to crotchless jeans but no one really understood it either. Like, seriously?
There are parts of the fashion world that’s definitely bizarre, with many ridiculous trends that have surfaced in the past – like sarong skirts and ice bucket bags for instance. While these are still wearable, we’re not too sure about the clear plastic jeans Topshop came up with and the overpriced detachable jeans.
Of course, these trends are not for everyone, but we’re pretty certain that there are some bold fashionistas who would consider rocking some unique denim!
What about you? Would you actually purchase this pair of extreme cut-out denim?
