After a series of public holidays and festive seasons that are filled with fireworks, we’ve just found another reason for you to look up at the sky!
On July 13, a supermoon will be upon us and it will be the BIGGEST full moon of the year.
If you’re wondering what’s so special about this supermoon, here’s why:
- This supermoon is called buck moon and it got its name from the Native Americans back in the 1930s
- It will orbit closest to Earth as compared to other full moons this year
- The ‘viewing size’ is 14% larger than the previous supermoon
- You DON’T NEED binoculars or a telescope to be able to view this beautiful phenomenon
- This next supermoon will appear on August 11!
For a better view of the moon, you could use this calculator to determine the best times to catch the moonrise and moonset!
But, if you’d like to watch the moon from the comfort of your own home, feel free to watch the livestream here!
