Valentine’s Day is a great occasion to express our love via gifts, dinners and whatever else your partner loves. However, if you’re more of the anti-capitalistic, grand romantic gesture kind of person, you might find some inspiration in what this Thai man did.
52-year-old Suthep “Maew” Lomjit just today ended his 1,200km walk to prove his love to his girlfriend, Thanapa Khiaw-on. To put things into perspective, the distance from Pasir Gudang, Johor to Padang Besar, Perlis is only 884km!
According to The Nation Thailand, Suthep started his journey on January 14, 2023 with the aim to reach his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day.
Upon reaching her home in Satun from Nakhon Nayok, he asked for her hand in marriage.
The pair, who’re in their 50s, met on TikTok 5 years ago. It is reported by The Straits Times that “they met for the first time in person on Tuesday, and signed their marriage certificate on the same day.”
“I want people who abuse their families and loved ones, as well as those who are unfaithful to their wives, to pay attention to this journey,” Suthep “Maew” Lomjit said, adding that although he’s lost 17kg through his trek, he’s happy to have had the opportunity to prove his love to his wife.
About 50 local athletes also joined Mr Suthep in the last leg of his journey.
If a man in his 50s can WALK the entire length of Peninsular Malaysia and more for his girlfriend, your man can get those Pasar Seni flowers for you.
