A Thai man’s violent rampage through a temple ended up in tragedy after he was impaled by a Buddha statue after he tried to climb and deface it.
According to a report by Thaiger, the 49-year-old man known as Ek, died following the incident.
It all started when he decided to take methamphetamine at the temple with a monk there, named Best, who is Ek’s friend. Ek then attacked Best with a fluorescent tube and when Best tried to run away, Ek proceeded to smash the temple’s statues.
The police were called and upon their arrival, Ek locked all of the doors and windows of the temple’s main hall to stop the officers from entering. The police, stranded outside, tried to coax Ek into surrendering as they thought that Ek also had a weapon.
When they didn’t get a response from Ek, the police then broke down the door and found Ek lying in a pool of his own blood, with a Buddha statue impaled through his chest.
It was later discovered that he tried to climb and deface the biggest statue in the temple but he fell and landed on the sharp end of another statue. It ended up piercing his heart and lungs.
Best, on the other hand, had to abandoned his monkhood due to his consumption of drugs.
We guess the lesson to learn here is to not do drugs and don’t mess with Buddha.
