The King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, and Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, recently dined at a famous Asam Pedas eatery in Johor Bahru. A young TikToker, however, expressed what he thought about the viral matter that captured the hearts of many Malaysians through the unity portrayed.
In a video that has since been deleted, the TikToker politely reminded the Ruler and PMX not to dine in at non-halal eateries.
“I have no intention to insult both of you, but I am merely reminding you as a fellow Muslim. I hope you both will not visit and dine at non-Halal eateries again.”
“If the place has no Halal certificate, then regardless of who you are, you should not dine at non-Halal eateries,” the TikToker said.
Just yesterday (December 15), the TikToker posted an apology video after realising that he made a mistake about the Halal status of the restaurant. He included the snapshot of a statement that claimed the restaurant served Halal food and said he was sorry for the statement he made about the King and PMX.
“Apparently, the restaurant has a Halal certificate. I apologise for not researching more about this eatery. I will be more careful in the future to avoid defaming anyone,” he said in the apology video.
In his other posts, the TikToker also said he would take a hiatus from social media following the harsh comments he got from social media users following his statement that claimed PMX and the King dined at a non-Halal eatery.
“Due to my actions, I have decided to remove the video, make an apology video and take a short break from social media. I am sorry once again for making a statement without proper research.”
