What was supposed to be a fun lucky draw for customers of an Asam Laksa stall turned into a legal battle that led to a letter of demand.

It all started when a customer of the stall in Cheras had won a Labubu toy from the lucky draw, only to make accusations online about the toy not being authentic.

Hk1993, who runs the My Asam Laksa stall, took to their Facebook page to share details of this incident, where they explained how they asked the customer for proof that the toy provided was not authentic.

They wrote, “We celebrated the first anniversary of our stall by buying Labubu to be gifted to customers who have supported us. But, when this lady won the prize, she actually said that it was fake. When she said this, we told her that if she went to Popmart to verify that it was fake, we would report the store that we purchased it from.”

My Asam Laksa had purchased the Labubu toys from a reseller of Popmart products.

The woman had won the toy on Wednesday (December 11), and by Friday (December 13), the customer allegedly did not return with proof that the toy was fake.

But, following this, the woman took to social media to claim that the toy was fake, though she did clarify that she was not targeting the My Asam Laksa stall but the reseller of the Labubu toy instead.

The reseller has since spoken, and they’re not taking this lightly.

Labubu Toy Store took to their Facebook page to share that they have sent a Letter of Demand, which they showcased, to the customer in regards to her statements about the toy being fake.

“We at Labubu Toy Store value the trust and satisfaction of our customers above all else. Recently, it has come to our attention that (the My Asam Laksa lucky draw winner), a non-customer (of Labubu Toy Store), has made public accusations regarding the authenticity of our Labubu products.”

They went on to clarify:

1. The Allegation: (the My Asam Laksa lucky draw winner) received a Labubu figure as a free gift from a Laksa stall that had purchased the products from us for their promotion.
2. Our Response: Labubu Toy Store is committed to selling only genuine products and maintains stringent quality checks. Any suggestion to the contrary is false and misleading.
3. Legal Action: A Letter of Demand has been issued to (the My Asam Laksa lucky draw winner) to address these baseless claims and safeguard our reputation.

“We assure all our valued customers that every product sold through Labubu Toy Store is authentic. We remain committed to providing high-quality toys and exceptional service. Should you have any concerns or inquiries, please feel free to reach out to us directly. Thank you for your continued support and understanding,” they added.
