A 24-year-old woman saved herself from being raped in a public toilet in Laman Kampung Melayu in Kluang, Johor, yesterday evening (December 17) after she bit the perpetrator’s hand and scratched his face.

According to a report by Berita Harian, the perpetrator was detained by members of the public at the location at about 5:20pm, after the woman was able to escape.

Rape 1

Kluang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Nor shared that the suspect, a 34-year-old unemployed man, had hidden in the public toilet in a closed stall.

“When the victim wanted to go into the toilet, the suspect came out of hiding and locked the toilet door. Rape was attempted on the victim before she bit his hand and scratched his face. The victim was then able to escape,” he said.

Police arrived at the location shortly after, though the suspect had already been detained by the public.

Rape 2

“A remand application against the suspect will be made today (December 18) and the Kluang Magistrate’s Court. A urine test found the suspect to be negative for drugs, but he has 6 previous criminal records and 3 drug records,” he added.
