Explosion at Bangsar Nasi Kandar Restaurant Leaves 1 Severely Burnt, Cause is Still Under Investigation

If you’ve been on Twitter this morning and are wondering what happened in Bangsar, here’s what we know.

A 45-year-old was reportedly burnt in a fire at a Nasi Kandar restaurant on Jalan Bangsar Utama 6 earlier today (March 6).

According to a report by Kosmo, the Operations Center of the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department had received an emergency call in regards to an explosion at 11:44am. The operation to put out the fire involved 6 machines and 44 members from the Pantai Fire Station (BBP), Seputeh, Jalan Hang Tuah and Sri Hartamas.

“When the fire brigade arrived at the scene at 11:51am, the fire ravaged the 4,000 square foot Nasi Kandar restaurant and 70% (of the eatery) was burnt.”

“There is a victim, a 45-year-old Indian man who suffered burns on 80% of his body and was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” a spokesperson for Bomba shared.

The fire was completely and successfully extinguished at 12:40pm.

“The investigation unit is at the location and the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” they added.

 

Some social media posts have been speculating that it might have been a gas tank explosion

Earlier today, multiple social media users took to Twitter to showcase and report on the explosion. The incident also caused workers in nearby offices to leave their buildings and father in an open area out of fear that the fire might worsen.

Many netizens shared that they heard an explosion and noticed smoke in the area.
