A 45-year-old man was sentenced after pleading guilty to sending obscene and pornographic group videos for commercial purposes early last year.

Kamarulnazri Desa was fined RM80,000 for allegedly using an X app account to share explicit content meant to offend others on January 26 and February 4.

He was sharing sex videos for RM100 each

The accused was also said to have knowingly shared pornographic videos on the X app by posting links through Telegram for commercial purposes on February 8 and February 17, as reported by Harian Metro.

Case details revealed that he was selling group sex videos, including a video of his wife with another man in his presence, for RM100, with payment receipts found during the investigation.

The Kubang Pasu District Police Headquarters in Jitra, Kedah, discovered all this evidence on February 20.

He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) and Section 233(2)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which comes with a maximum fine of RM50,000, up to 1 year in jail, or both, if convicted.

Prosecutor demanded a harsher punishment

The accused asked for a lighter sentence, saying he works as a janitor earning RM1,500 a month while caring for his wife, 4 kids (2 of them in university), and his bedridden grandmother.

But Deputy Public Prosecutor from MCMC, Fatin Hadni Khairuddin, pushed for a harsher punishment, pointing out the seriousness of the case.

She also mentioned that the videos were being sold to the public, and an MCMC investigation found a large collection of similar videos posted by the accused on social media since 2016.

The accused still hasn’t paid the fine

Fatin Hadni asked the court to give a heavier sentence to teach the accused and others involved in these kinds of activities a lesson, especially to prevent kids from being exposed to such content.

The judge ultimately fined the accused RM80,000 or 2 years of imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine.

As of 4:00 PM yesterday (December 17), the accused still hadn’t paid the fine and will be sent to Pokok Sena Prison to serve his time.
