A teacher’s hopes of enjoying Harumanis mangoes were dashed, and she was left heartbroken after losing RM9,998.52 in a scam.
Kuala Terengganu Police Chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor reported that on April 23, a 46-year-old teacher was enticed by a social media advertisement for Harumanis mangoes.
According to BERNAMA, she contacted the seller via WhatsApp and was instructed to download an app to place her order.

After entering her personal details, she received a QR code and was asked to send it to the seller.
The seller then called her, and during the call, her phone unexpectedly shut down and restarted a few minutes later.
The next day, she discovered that RM9,998.51 had been withdrawn from her Tabung Haji savings account.

Upon investigation, she found that the money had been transferred from her Tabung Haji account to her bank account and then to an unknown third-party account.
She filed a police report at 6:35 am on April 24.
