Taiwan further opens its borders to eligible countries. According to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), the visa-exempt entry scheme to Taiwan will be fully reinstated from 29 September 2022 for several countries, including Malaysia.
Nationals from eligible visa-free countries can engage in activities that do not require a permit, such as business, exhibition visits, fact-finding missions, international exchanges, visiting relatives, tourism, and social events in Taiwan.
Starting 29 September, countries like Chile, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia can enter Taiwan visa-free, and do not need to do the PCR Covid-19 test when arrived. Malaysia is eligible for the visa exemption program, with a duration of stay of up to 30 days. Check the full list here.
Previously, it was announced that several countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and more can enter Taiwan visa-free starting 12 September, check the full list here.
This is the first stage of border reopening, where the number of visitors is capped at 60,000. The “three days of quarantine and four days of self-initiated epidemic prevention” rule still remains, with one person per room. Although no PCR test is required when arrived, visitors still need to do the at-home rapid test on the day of arrival and the third day of quarantine.
Stay tuned for more updates.
