An incident has caught the attention of netizens in China recently after CCTV footage of a police station showed a schoolboy lodging a report on his own tuition teacher while breaking down in tears.

Get this, the student wasn’t reporting any heinous crimes that the tuition teacher did. Instead, it was because the schoolboy was too stressed about his studies.

The video, shared by Jiupai News on its official Weibo account provided further context about the CCTV footage, revealing that it took place at a police station in Central China, specifically at Xiangyang in Central China’s Hubei province last month.

In the caption, Jiupai News said that the schoolboy was a junior high school student who went to the police to vent about the great pressures his parents put on him about his studies.

The student said that his parents are pushing for his academic performance to improve by sending him to tuition after school.

In the video, the schoolboy, wearing his school uniform approached the counter at the police station saying that he didn’t want to attend the tuition classes anymore. A police officer can then be heard asking the boy,

“Homework in the morning and tuition classes in the afternoon. You must be under a lot of stress, right?”

Afterwards, the boy can be seen starting to cry while a police officer offered him tissues which he then used to wipe the tears.

A police officer can then be heard telling the schoolboy that his academic performance is very good and that his parents just want him to work harder. The boy then said he was ranked 8 in his class of 25 students, to which the officer complimented him, saying that such a ranking was a great achievement.

The video then cut to the boy and two police officers at a table, where the latter was seen guiding him through his homework.

You can watch the video here:

While the schoolboy’s action may be seen as him venting out his stress about his studies, the student actually has valid reasons to go to the police. This is because according to CNA, China has banned private tuition in the country under the country’s “double reduction” policy.

The policy is aimed at easing pressure on students due to the country’s notoriously stressful educational system. By how the schoolboy broke down at the police station, we’re pretty sure that such a policy is warranted in the country.
