A foreign man’s attempt to evade an inspection by the Malaysian Immigration Department ended tragically when he fell to his death from a pedestrian bridge yesterday (October 31).
In an official statement by PDRM, Johor Bahru South District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat stated that the incident occurred at 4:48 PM, when the victim, who was in his 30s, slipped from the bridge connecting JB Sentral and the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI).
“He fell onto a Perodua MyVi, and was pronounced dead by a medical officer from Hospital Sultanah Aminah.”
The victim was a Sri Lankan national and worked as a factory operator here.
“No criminal elements were detected, and the case has been classified as sudden death,” Raub said in a statement.
The police, however, did not disclose why the Sri Lankan was evading the immigration officer’s inspection. Earlier, dashcam footage showing the man falling to his death went viral on social media.
