A recent viral incident involving a man who damaged public property and injured a security officer at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) is believed to have been triggered by stress after he missed his flight.

Authorities revealed that the 33‑year‑old foreign national was also involved in a disagreement with his wife over childcare responsibilities prior to the incident. The altercation reportedly contributed to his aggressive behaviour at the airport.

The suspect became agitated after missing his flight.

According to KLIA District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner M. Ravi, police received a report about the disturbance and arrested the suspect on 5 April at 10:30 AM. The arrest took place at the International Departure Counter at KLIA2, where the man had been waiting for a transit flight to Hat Yai, Thailand.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect became agitated after missing his scheduled flight. His frustration escalated following the dispute with his spouse, ultimately leading to violent behaviour. He allegedly struck a glass counter, damaged a flight information display board, and threw a drink bottle toward the counter area.

During the incident, a security officer on duty sustained injuries

The suspect later pleaded guilty at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court on 7 April. He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to one year’s imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. He was also charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, which provides for a fine of up to RM100.

In an official statement issued on Saturday (11 April), Assistant Commissioner Ravi reminded the public to remain calm and comply with instructions from security personnel, especially in high‑traffic public areas such as KLIA1 and KLIA2. He emphasised the importance of maintaining order and avoiding actions that could endanger others or disrupt public safety.

The incident first gained widespread attention after a video circulated on social media showing the man behaving aggressively and damaging airport property.
