Grabfood riders deserve all the respect and appreciation we can give them and this Singaporean Grabfood rider proves that even more!
On 3 December, Singaporean Facebook user Jo Joshua Thanadon shared an experience he had while ordering McDonald’s from Grabfood. He had placed his order at around 10.52pm and was expecting the food to arrive a little past 11pm, but his order was randomly reassigned from his initial rider to a rider named Mani Ragazzo.
“I was confused, so I started texting him what happened and told him to ride safe on his bicycle and don’t need to rush (Was very CB hungry though). This whole thing was about an hour plus or so since I made the order,” he writes.
Turns out, his original rider had cancelled his order (hence, it was reassigned a new rider), but not before taking his McDonald’s order and leaving without texting or calling Joshua at all! Mani tried to ask McDonald’s to redo his order, but the store had already closed.
After a bit of texting, Joshua decided to call up Mani and ask him for a favour on a whim. Because he felt so hungry, he asked if Mani could head over and buy him a serving of Hor Fun and a can of coke from a nearby restaurant even if it meant paying Mani a little more money.
But right when Joshua was about to text Mani on his mobile number and order via the Grabfood app, his order was cancelled and he lost the chat. Desperate for food and convinced that Mani wasn’t going to show up, Joshua made a separate Hor Fun order using Grab instead.
But to Joshua’s surprise, Mani actually showed up with his order in hand!
“After about a good 20mins wait, guess what!? Mani Ragazzo came!!!!! He came with what I ordered via our GRAB call conversation! I was like – HE REALLY WENT TO TABAO FOR ME!”
Joshua ended his post with a big THANK YOU! to Mani and all Grabfood riders around Singapore.
“I wanna say thank you so much for your effort and still come and deliver my food without even any hesitation. I really appreciate it!”
Speaking with WORLD OF BUZZ, Mani explained why he felt the need to help Joshua out even though he didn’t need to.
“I think it’s not fair to him as he already placed the order for more than 1hr. Secondly, because he told me he had yet to eat since the start of the day and I felt bad… what I believe is that regardless of anything, no human should starve,” he told us.
“Because of someone’s selfishness, it’s not fair for him to be suffering in hunger and its already late and I know many shops will be closed.”
Once again, we salute all our fellow Grabfood drivers and riders for the dedication and effort they put into their work. Thank you so much!
