Have you ever been embarrassed when you pull a door that says push or walked right up to a glass door and it doesn’t open for you?
Well, this 53-year-old woman in Singapore is probably very embarrassed as she walked right up to a glass wall and smacked into it.
Madam Xu was having lunch at a restaurant named Putien which is located in Raffles City at 3.45pm on 1 May, reported Shin Min Daily.
After she ordered her food, she felt the need to go to the toilet, so she asked for directions. When she was making her way there, she did not see the glass wall as it was too clean and smacked into it face first.
According to AsiaOne, the woman said,
“My lips were bleeding on the spot and half my face swelled up afterwards.”
She added that she was not looking at her phone at that time.
After the incident, the manager immediately attended to her and asked her to go to the clinic next door for a check. She refused as she believes that her injuries were not that serious.
The restaurant was apologetic for that incident and gave her a few free dishes in addition to a 10% off on the total bill. However, Madam Xu whose lip is still hurting is concerned that other people, especially young children or the elderly will bump into the glass wall.
“I just hope the restaurant will take this seriously and put up a sign to remind the public to be careful.”
The restaurant has since explained that anti-collision bars were supposed to be installed but the contractor did not manage to do so as it was a long holiday.
The manager added that they usually put a few chairs in front but they removed it since there were a lot of customers that day.
According to Shin Min Daily’s survey, the restaurant has since set up some barriers as a temporary measure.
