This is definitely some rare, unfortunate news!
A 23 year-old young man from Singapore reportedly fell from his hotel building in Bali, Indonesia and died shortly after that this past weekend.
It was found on Monday that the victim, now identified as Ong Chee Seng, ingested hallucinogenic or “magic” mushrooms named psilocybin, mixed with orange juice.
According to The Star, Ong’s body was found lying in a back lane behind Hotel Akmani, Jalan Legian Kuta Badung when a security guard heard a loud crash at around 2.15 in the morning.
As soon as he was found, Ong was rushed to BIMC hospital in Kuta.
However, efforts to rescue him was futile as he had already passed away upon impact.
In a report by Asia One, the deceased’s friend and classmate, Lee Jun Yu, had bought the hallucinogenic mushroom drink outside their hotel.
Ong reportedly mixed the mushroom drink with orange juice while Lee mixed his with chocolate.
Lee reportedly said that Ong wanted to jump out from the window in their hotel room after consuming the drink. He tried his best to hold his friend down, but to no avail.
Currently, local police are investigating the tragedy and the Singaporean Embassy in Jakarta are working on “rendering consular assistance to the family of the deceased Singaporean”.
