When job seeking, it is not uncommon to come across some extraordinary job postings. Between those with extra high or low salaries to those with odd job descriptions.
Recently, a job posting on LinkedIn went viral on social media as netizens ridiculed the unreasonable job description.
The job posting was for a Personal Assistant (PA) to CEO for a global digital assets exchange based in Singapore.
The job description for the role reads, “Serving as the primary point of contact, being able to handle a wide variety of matters with utmost discretion and being able to travel with the CEO all the time.”
However, there is certainly more than meets the eye as the company also requires the PA to do other tasks for the CEO including:
- arrange 3 meals with specific dietary requirements everyday,
- arrange daily exercise,
- make sure vitamins and supplements are taken daily,
- make sure fruits and nuts are taken daily,
- remind CEO to do pending tasks and oversee them completed,
- ensure that the CEO’s personal belongings are organized and readily packable for travel at a moment’s notice,
- ensure the CEO sleeps before a certain time,
- ensure the CEO completes other daily tasks as needed (meditation, etc),
- laundry is arranged to be done once every 2 weeks.
Making matters worse, the PA also has to be able to travel all of the time with CEO, as frequently as 1 new country or city each month and having no permanent place of residence, have no family or personal commitments and handle ad-hoc and maid-like tasks as needed.
Is this for a PA or a nanny?!
The job posting has gone viral on social media and plenty of netizens have been quick to call out the company for having the PA do unreasonable tasks.
“What nanny? Sounds like an advert for a mother. For real.”
One user commented, “Something is not right with this ad, doesn’t sound professional. Either you need a nanny or a PA.”
“Ensures the CEO sleeps after a certain time? Like how? Do we need to put him into a swing and help push it,” asked one user.
What do you think of the job description? Is it reasonable or not? How much would they need to pay for you to do it?
