Setel, Malaysia’s first fuel e-payment app introduced by Petronas Dagangan Berhad has an official app ambassador now and she likes to sleep on the job. In fact, sleeping by the fuel pump without any care for the world is how she got the job in the first place!
Okay, before you get your pitchforks out, do take note that we’re talking about an adorable stray cat at a Petronas fuel station in Alor Setar, Kedah who went viral after an X (formerly Twitter) user shared cute photos of her sleeping by a fuel pump.
Sleeping on the job
Shared by @akif_twitchy, the cute feline can be seen happily sleeping by a fuel pump as he was fuelling up his vehicle. In the caption, he jokingly tagged Setel on X and said,
“Hi Setel, please take action against this employee who’s sleeping on the job. This is against the ethics when working ?”

The X post has gotten over 7,100 likes and more than 2,100 likes as of the time of writing, with @akif_twitchy also sharing in the replies how the same cat was sleeping at the same spot a year ago. Wah, what a consistent cat!
The cute catto was appointed Setel’s official ambassador
Setel then took notice of the viral post and quote reposted it on its official X account with the caption,
“If we reach 7,500 followers, Setel will take this ’employee’ as our app ambassador?”
This X post then became even more viral with over 12,000 likes and more than 4,100 reposts. Moreover, Malaysians flocked to follow the official Setel X account and breeze past the 7,500 followers threshold set in a short time. As of the time of writing, the account is just short of 10,000 followers!
Accordingly, Setel delivered on its promise and announced that the stray cat is now its official app ambassador!
Setel asserted,
“We reached 7,500! Introducing our official Setel ambassador from Alor Setar, Kedah ?. Do give ideas on how the Setel team can celebrate her!”
Malaysians can’t get enough of “Purr-tronas”!
In the replies, many Malaysians gave witty suggestions on how to celebrate the appointment of the new feline ambassador.
One commenter suggested for Setel to give the cat, which many named “Purr-tronas” and “Cetel” a wet food cake complete with candles.
Meanwhile, another commenter urged Setel to provide the feline with a more comfortable sleeping area, preferably with a mattress.
Besides that, seeing the cat’s popularity online, one Malaysian said that all Petronas stations should adopt resident cats, to which Setel replied, saying that this was the best suggestion ever.
