A vegan influencer known for her raw, plant-based food diet, Zhanna Samsonova (or Zhanna D’art) has apparently died from ‘starvation’ after exclusively eating exotic fruits in Malaysia.
According to a report by New York Post, the 39-year-old Russian influencer passed away on July 21 (Friday) after seeking medical help during a tour of Southeast Asia. Prior to her death, she had promoted raw foods on social media to her millions of viewers.
“A few months ago, in Sri Lanka, she already looked exhausted, with swollen legs oozing lymph. They sent her home to seek treatment. However, she ran away again. When I saw her in Phuket, I was horrified.”
“I lived one floor above her and every day, I feared finding her lifeless body in the morning. I convinced her to seek treatment, but she didn’t make it,” a friend of Samsonova shared.
Her official cause of death has yet to be declared but her mother believes she passed due to a ‘cholera-like infection’.
Another friend of Samsonova explained that for the last 7 years, she had only eaten giant, sweet jackfruit and durians.
“I see my body and mind transform every day. I love my new me and never move on to the habits that I used to use,” Samsonova once said in regards to her restrictive diet.
“I eat simple food, although I have a lot of experience as a raw food chef. I love creating my own recipes and inspiring people to eat healthier.”
Sadly, many of her friends believe her ‘healthy’ food diet were the cause of her death.
“You don’t need to be a doctor to understand where this will lead. Zhanna’s idle stagnation was causing her to melt before our eyes, but she believed everything was fine. Only her eyes, merry eyes, and gorgeous hair compensated for the dreadful sight of a body tortured by idiocy. Forgive me if it sounds harsh,” another friend explained.
Our sincerest condolences to Samsonova’s family and friends.
