A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Beechcraft Super King Air B200T made an emergency landing at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang Jaya earlier today (October 16), causing the airport runway to be temporarily closed.
According to a report by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the 4 RMAF personnel inside the plane thankfully received no injuries.
The Careta Facebook page shared the video of the incident, where the aircraft can be seen sliding on the runway before skidding off onto the grass as a siren rang in the background.
Malaysia Airports had earlier reported that the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport runway would be closed until 4:15pm to facilitate the removal procedure for a skidded aircraft, but the closure has since been extended to 6pm.
“(We’re) glad to share that no one was injured during the incident. The terminal however is unaffected and remains open. Stay tuned for updates,” they added in their post.
Is it said that the RMAF personnel piloting the plane during a training exercise had contacted Subang Air Traffic Control (ATC) requesting assistance to land at the airport following an issue regarding the plane’s landing gear.
We’re glad that everyone is back on the ground, safe and sound.
