The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) revealed that a total of RM70,000 worth of compounds were issued on Friday (10 March 2022) following raids conducted at 2 entertainment outlets in Kuala Lumpur city centre. As reported by national news agency Bernama, the compounds were issued to 68 patrons and 2 premise owners for flouting Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).

Kuala Lumpur Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief, Datuk Azman Ayob confirmed that a total of 70 people were issued compound notice of RM1,000 each. Furthermore, he said that both entertainment outlets were found to have violated Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act.

Azman further stressed that as of the latest Covid-19 SOPs, activities in pubs and nightclubs are still prohibited. Hence, in order to assist the government in curbing the spread of Covid-19, PDRM will be intensifying these operations from time to time.

Since 1 January 2022, the Kuala Lumpur Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department has issued 521 compounds worth a whopping RM521,000 to owners of entertainment outlets in the city centre and their patrons. All of these compounds were due to breaching of Covid-19 SOP.
