Raj’s Banana Leaf has suffered a lot of backlash from Malaysians and the authorities after failing to abide by the rules and regulations that ensure a restaurant is clean and safe for food handling. The shop has been closed since, and if you’re wondering what all the workers are currently doing, well, they surely are being really productive.

Recently, the workers of the Bangsar outlet were seen being given a food handling course ever since the restaurant was shut down by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)I guess they have time since they’re not on the job now.

The eatery is currently closed, but a group of 30 workers have attended a food handling course that was conducted by the Malaysian Association of Environmental Health inside the same location, reported The Star.

Also present at the workshop was a DBKL Health and Environment Department officer, who was taking photographs of the occasion.

“The course is being conducted by Malaysian Association of Environmental Health and 30 workers attended the course. It is the last measure the restaurant management has to undertake before we carry out another inspection soon,” he said.

“I was told by the restaurant manager that the workers had also been given typhoid jabs.”

That’s great!

He was seen taking pictures of the restaurant’s interior and the back lane too.

“I am also here to check on the upgrading work of the exhaust ventilation system, sink, grease trap and backlane,” he added.

Meanwhile at the premises, the exhaust ventilation is being upgraded and the pothole at the backlane is being covered.

Datuk Ibrahim Yusoff, DBKL socioeconomic development executive director, said that if the rectification work to improve the hygiene and cleanliness was not up to par, the restaurant’s licence could be revoked. Oh no!

“We need to wait for the results of the inspection from our Health and Environment Department. They have to comply with all the requirements, failing which their licence might be revoked,” he added.

Do you think Raj’s Banana Leaf will be given a second chance to operate again? Or do you think it’s a little too late? Tell us what you think in the comments!
