Malaysians really have been making a big splash at the 2018 World Cup in Russia!
First the Jalur Gemilang then the PKR flag, and now Malaysians can proudly say that our ‘Baju Melayu’ has also made it to the World Cup! What a way to really share the culture!
And we all owe it to Perak-born Putra Tahsrinudin Tajudin, 32, who decided to show up to one of the games in full on, traditional attire. He’s even completed it with a ‘sampin’. Talk about hardcore!

Putra said he wanted to show off the outfit to the world and thought that the best venue to show some Malaysian love would be at the World Cup in Russia. Well, it is the biggest game on the planet, so he was spot on about that!

Apart from Jalur Gemilang and Perak flags, his also bought a Russian fur hat to take the place of a ‘songkok’ to go with his outfit.
According to an interview with The Star “Many non-Malaysians came to say hi and asked about the costume I was wearing,” the 32-year-old reported.
He was even interviewed by some reporters afterwards about his outfit. “I was nervous but excited at the same time but I manage to explain to them what I was wearing.” he said.
Putra said during the Portugal v Morocco match, a Russian television crew had interviewed him and asked about his outfit and experience there.
Putra will be leaving Russia on the 24th of June, but within the time he was there, he did Malaysians a huge favour and put on a good showing!

What a fun way to put Malaysia on the map. We may not be at the world cup as a competitor, but we certainly are one of the most lively spectators!
