Over the years, we cannot deny how much our beloved homeland – Malaysia has developed. We certainly have a lot of people to thank for but here’s a food for thought.
Did Kedah help in developing KL?
In an X post by Dr. Azman Ibrahim, the MP for Jabi, Terengganu shared his thoughts on social media about KL’s development over the decades. He shared a picture of him showing KL’s landmark – the Petronas Twin Tower, commonly known as KLCC Twin Tower which has been standing still in the city center since 1997.
In his post, Dr. Azman claimed that the landmark in KL was built using the oil money from Terengganu, and said that the state had helped a lot in making KL achieve the glory it has today.
“They insulted Terengganu and said the state is going backwards, but Terengganu was actually the one who helped in developing KL,” Dr. Azman said.
“And your motive is?”
Netizens, on the other hand, acknowledged that the state had indeed helped in developing the city center but agreed that Dr. Azman shouldn’t have made an issue out of it. Some were also wondering about the motive of the tweet.
“What’s the motive of your tweet? Who are you addressing it to?”
“Take it back then. What a childish thought.”
“Stop with the bitterness.”
Another netizen reminded Dr. Azman by saying Terengganu is not the only state that played a part in helping KL.
“Sabah & Sarawak helped in the development too. If you want to feel oppressed, Sabah & Sarawak should have felt the pain more.”
“Shameless. Sarawak who contributed more didn’t even come up with such a statement.”
Mercu tanda KL, dibina dari duit minyak yang dikorek dari perut bumi Terengganu.

To understand the history of KL’s development in a detailed manner, a revisit to the history subject is needed. Regardless, what do you think of Dr. Azman’s statement?
