Another day, another call to ban something.
In case you’re not aware, a concert for viral Indonesian and Malaysian TikTok songs is scheduled to take place at the Millenium Hall, Kepala Batas, Penang on 30 September. In a Twitter post by @harakahdailyHD, the MP for Kepala Batas, Dr. Ustazah Siti Mastura has voiced out the effort to cancel the performance.
She revealed that she has been keeping tabs on the issue for a month now and despite her silence on the matter, it didn’t mean she was not going to take any action against it.
“My team was investigating the matter and as of now, we have received multiple complaints from the people in Kepala Batas to cancel the show.”
As of today (August 25), actions have been taken by Dr. Siti, and she started by sending an e-mail to the Ministry of Communications and Digital Malaysia to lodge an official complaint about the show, to which she is still waiting for a response from the Ministry.
“We have also reached out to the Sungai Petani City Council, and we’re currently waiting for their reply.”
Additionally, Dr. Siti also said that she has reached out to the authorities who approved and allowed the concert to be held in the Millennium Hall. Similarly, no response has been received.
“I’ve called them 3 times but to no avail, so I have personally DM-ed them.”
In the meantime, Dr. Siti urged the public to call for a ban on the concert for viral Indonesian and Malaysian TikTok songs because “it brings no benefits to the people and will cause a controversy”.
Dr. Siti also went through the rules and regulations of the concert and revealed that children as young as 12 are allowed to attend the show, as long as the audience is casually and appropriately dressed.
“This is why we should ban this concert.”
In a Facebook post by lagu viral TikTok, it is revealed that the venue for the concert has been changed from the Millennium Hall to a bigger venue at the Stadium Negeri Pulau Pinang. The show will feature a few local and Indonesian singers.
