Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed claims that the government has failed to act on the incident involving a man allegedly stepping on the Quran. He said authorities are already conducting a comprehensive investigation according to existing laws.

Anwar emphasised that Malaysia operates based on the rule of law. Decisions and actions, he said, must follow legal processes rather than emotional reactions or pressure from social media.
He urged everyone to let the authorities manage the case and to refrain from making statements or assumptions that could disrupt public harmony.
“This country is governed by the rule of law, not emotion and speculation,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Kuantan police chief said the student’s remand, which was supposed to end on Saturday, was extended until 3 March based on instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor, who requested additional steps to finalise the investigation.
