Ask any true blue Malaysian what are their favourite activities and they would most probably answer that they love to eat. With so much delicious food available 24/7, it’s just so hard to resist right?
This is not good for us because Malaysians are considered as the country which has the highest rate of obesity in Asia. Based on a study by the Economist magazine, this is because of our fondness of roti canai, nasi lemak, various fatty foods and reluctance to exercise. That’s unhealthy you know!
According to Malaysian Insight, our beloved Prime Minister Najib Razak has also urged us to slim down. That’s not all, he admitted that his body is not at its most ideal and said that he needs to slim down as well.
During the launch of the 3rd National Sports Day in Kuala Lumpur, he said, “We don’t do enough sports. We must play more sports. Don’t put on too much weight. I myself have to trim down,” while grabbing his belly to illustrate his point.
In fact, he mentioned that he wanted to achieve a body like our young and handsome abah Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
“I want my body to be the same as Khairy’s, slim. But this takes time. God willing, I will play more sports,” he added. #support
The Prime Minister encourage Malaysians to play more sports and keep active, especially the youth. “The younger generation must play more sports as it has many benefits. We have a multi-ethnic country. The best platform to promote unity is sports,” he explained.
