PM: Fully Vaccinated M’sians Can Now Travel Overseas Without MyTravelPass

In the special press conference today, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that tourism activities will be allowed, as the interstate travel ban has been lifted.

Addressing Keluarga Malaysia, the Prime Minister said that 90 per cent of the adult population has been fully vaccinated, thus interstate travel will be allowed starting tomorrow (11 October 2021).

With that, tourism activities in all states will also be allowed. However, he reinforced that all Malaysians need to comply with the SOPs, and to be responsible for the health and safety of our families in the hometown.

He added that, if one possesses any symptoms, it is better to refrain from going back to hometown first. ” This interstate travel is only allowed for those who completed two doses of vaccines. Those who have not gotten both doses of vaccine or have not been vaccinated at all are prohibited from crossing states,” he stated.

Besides, according to Ismail Sabri, those who want to travel overseas can previously apply via MyTravelPass, but it is now not necessary anymore. Malaysians who want to travel overseas for tourism activities are allowed as long as they have gotten both doses of vaccines, and do not need to apply for MyTravelPass starting tomorrow (11 October 2021).

Those who return to Malaysia after travelling overseas also need to follow the 14-days quarantine period. They also need to do the swab test three days before returning, and the day when arrived in Malaysia.
