JUST IN: Interstate Travel Allowed Starting 11 October
It has been 9 months ever since interstate travel has been banned by the government. During this time, we have been staying at home and thinking about food items that are available exclusively in certain places only.
Today (10 October), PM Ismail Sabri has announced through a press conference that the state borders will be reopened again starting 11 October.
This move to allow interstate travel again is because 90% of the Malaysian adult population has been fully vaccinated.
The PM elaborated that only fully vaccinated people are allowed to cross states. PDRM will be conducting random checks on an individual’s MySejahtera to see if they are fully vaccinated at R & R areas.
In a series of tweets on 6 October, Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin has said that those who are in high contact & mobility settings should test regularly if they want to balik kampung to see their elderly parents in order to keep them safe.
Additionally, the minister has said that there will no longer be any massive roadblocks in the endemic stage.
“Much will now depend on personal responsibility and behaviour. I believe we can rise to the challenge in #ReopeningSafely.”
However, there will still be random SOP compliance checks on restaurants & premises by PDRM.
Even though we’ll be entering the endemic stage soon. We should all still abide by the SOPs in order to protect ourselves and others.
