Let’s be honest, food served at rest and recreational (R&R) areas has always been average; however, things are about to change when these new outlets are opened!
Just recently (April 2019), PLUS Malaysia Berhad announced that five food and beverage outlets will be opened at its R&R areas and they are:
- Family Mart
- Sushi King
- Daily Fresh
- Bon 900 Café
- My Laksa
According to Malay Mail, many brands have shown interest in partnering up with PLUS but only a few of the outlets were selected based on customers’ feedback and needs.
“A lot of it is looking at customer research so if the needs of the customers and our partner brands are met, whether big or small, that’s how we make the selection. The choices are made by our customers and we also have more brands coming soon,” PLUS chief commercial officer Christine Liew said at the Setia City Convention Centre.
It was understood that there are 25 major F&B brands, including the latest additions, operating at the R&R stations. The newly announced outlets will be opened to the public in stages starting from this month (April).
Here are the locations of the new outlets.
- Sushi King – Rawang northbound (already in operation)
- My Laksa – Gurun northbound
- Family Mart – Sg Buloh Overhead Bridge Restaurant
- Daily Fresh – Machap northbound, Gunung Semanggol northbound and southbound
- Bon 900 Café – Dengkil southbound
Aside from satisfying travellers’ taste buds, PLUS also plans to upgrade several R&Rs and Seremban would be the first one to receive the facelift. It was reported that the rest area will feature a contemporary design with green technology such as rain harvesting for example.
With these new outlets opening at R&R stations, we’ll have more than one reason to stop by! What other outlets would you like to see at R&R stations? Let us know in the comments!
