It is about two weeks since the conditional movement control order (CMCO) began and many businesses that are allowed to open have to follow strict standard operating procedures (SOP).

Shops in shopping malls are only able to allow a certain amount of customers into the shops to prevent overcrowding the area which causes a long queue to form outside of the shop.

Yet, Malaysians are still willing to line up to enter the shops, probably because most of the shops have some crazy sale going on right now with the Hari Raya celebrations coming up.

Photos posted on Facebook page, Penang Kini, show the long lines of people waiting outside shops like Padini Concept Store and Brands Outlet at Queensbay Mall in Penang.

While it is good to see them following the SOP, it is still very concerning that the mall is still crowded with social distancing being compromised.

Some netizens commented and advised shoppers to not take their own sweet time while shopping.

“If you want to shop, you can. Once you try on and choose what you want to get, buy it immediately and not ponder too long about it because there are many people outside who want to enter the shop as well,” a netizen commented.

Others prefer to get their stuff online.

“Even though PDI and Brands Outlet have sale, I am unwilling to line up for so long. Better still just buy online. While I’m sleeping also I can buy.”

Do you think it’s safe to be lining up inside shopping malls together with everyone else? Let us know in the comments below!
