We’re reminded on a daily basis of what our frontliners go through battling an invisible enemy. They sacrifice their own health, family and safety to help Covid-19 patients. It’s heartbreaking every single time to see a frontliner defeated not only by the virus but also just through sheer exhaustion.
An ambulance driver from Ipoh, Perak collapsed and died yesterday after transporting Covid-19 patients to the hospital.
Bernama reported that the driver was suffering from asthma and at the time of the incident, he was believed to be exhausted before he fell unconscious.
Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, confirmed that the driver tested negative for the virus and underwent several Covid-19 screenings prior to the incident and all results were negative.
“The ambulance driver has been receiving treatment for other illnesses. The Ministry of Health is still investigating the exact cause of death. In fact, there are several other illnesses,”
However, Dr Noor Hisham refused to comment further on the situation. The pictures of the victim went viral with netizens appreciating the sacrifices our frontliners go through, working 24/7 without rest.
If you’re asking yourself, who am I quarantining for? Remember, it’s for them, they who work tirelessly just to end this pandemic. All we know is that, however much the government is paying them, it’s definitely not enough for the noble work they do.
