A few days ago, it was reported that a woman had splashed scalding hot water on a man with Down Syndrome while they both were in an elevator of an apartment building in Penang. The poor man suffered severe burns on his neck and body.
It was later revealed by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) that the woman carried out her vile action over a misunderstanding over a sensitive issue, which took place 3 to 4 years ago. Well, the woman will now have to face the consequences of her actions.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the 39-year-old woman has been sentenced to 10 years in jail and a fine of RM6,000 after pleading guilty to the assault against 33-year-old differently-abled man.
This decision was made by Penang Sessions Court judge Ahzal Fariz Ahmad Khairuddin, in accordance with Section 326 of the Penal Code.
