It’s common knowledge that vehicles on the road must give way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, as they are either on their way to assist at a medical emergency or transporting someone to a hospital.

And time and time again, we’ve seen stubborn vehicles who block ambulances get bashed and summoned by the authorities. So, why do people still shamelessly block ambulances while on the road? And what do they gain by doing that?

The Tanpa Nama Facebook page took to the INFO BERITA SEMASA Facebook group to showcase how a Perodua Myvi driver had recently decided to block an ambulance on the fast lane of a highway, while they were transporting a patient to a hospital.

They wrote, “My friend’s father is sick, he has to be taken to Hospital Pantai Penang from Perak. While travelling on the North-South Highway to Penang, there was a Myvi blocking the ambulance and refused to give way to the ambulance.”

In the videos showcased from inside the ambulance, the Myvi could be seen in front of the ambulance on the fast lane of the highway.

Despite having the sirens on, the Myvi refused to budge and made no move to give way for the ambulance. In fact, there was traffic in front of the Myvi, which caused the Myvi driver to press their breaks. And yet, they didn’t just move out of the ambulance’s way.

There were also other cars in front of the Myvi that remained in the fast lane despite there being an ambulance behind them.

It is truly saddening to know that there are people, not just the Myvi driver but also the other cars on the fast lane, who are willing to risk the lives of patients in ambulances for whatever it is they are trying to gain out of that situation.

What would you have done if that was your father in the ambulance? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
