On April 22, a teenage girl lodged a police report after being allegedly sexually assaulted by a police officer in Taman Johor Jaya.
According to BERNAMA, the 29-year-old man was arrested the same day after the police report was lodged.
The police officer with the rank of Inspector was arrested on suspicions of physically sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
Since it has been 7 days, Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar has said that his remand period will end today and he will be released today.
“The suspect is in the process of suspension from duty and the letter will be issued after receiving instructions from Bukit Aman.”
Elaborating further, the commissioner added that the officer stationed at the Pontian district police headquarters (IPD) would be suspended until the case is resolved.
“A suspension from duty will be imposed until the case is decided in court.”
This case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
