A few days after her disappearance, a hairdresser was found dead on Friday (30 January) at her boyfriend’s house in Batu Pahat, Johor.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) confirmed that the man murdered the victim by smothering her face with a pillow. He committed the crime out of jealousy, believing that the victim had an affair with another man. Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, previously confirmed that the victim’s cause of death was asphyxiation.

Shahrulanuar also said the murder took place on the day of the victim’s disappearance (27 January), but her body was only discovered three days later.

Suspect inflicted injuries on himself.

According to Shahrulanuar, the suspect attempted to take his own life by slashing his neck and left wrist with a sharp object. When the victim’s body was discovered, the suspect, who was also found in a critical condition, was right next to her.

The suspect, who is 44 years old, was then rushed to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail, where he received treatment.

At the time of writing (5 February), Shahrulanuar said the police had recorded part of the suspect’s statement to determine the motive behind the matter, which is still being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The suspect was brought to the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court this morning to extend his remand for an additional six days, as reported by Harian Metro.

Earlier, the victim’s employer said that he received an odd message from the victim’s number, saying that she would be away for an unspecified amount of time for “an urgent matter.”
