The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported a tuberculosis cluster in Kota Tinggi on January 25, identifying 33 positive cases after screening 804 close contacts as of Wednesday (February 4).

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that the Ministry of Health team is currently on the ground and taking aggressive action to contain the spread of the epidemic. All patients who tested positive have received treatment and are being closely monitored by MOH, Dr Dzulkefly said in his social media post last night.

Symptoms to look out for

In his post, Dr Dzulkefly also reported one death in the cluster, but affirmed that it was not due to tuberculosis.

MOH is currently on high alert, with efforts to detect active cases ongoing to ensure the safety of the local community.

Dr Dzulkefly said that residents in the area who experience symptoms such as prolonged coughing, fever, or night sweats are asked to immediately undergo a health screening and not wait until the situation becomes more serious.
