The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have arrested 2 of their own policemen over the rape of a foreign woman and the robbery of a local man, both of whom are students of a private college in Malaysia.
In a statement by the Selangor Police Chief CP Dato’ Hussein bin Omar Khan, the Selangor Police Contingent confirmed that they received two police reports from the victims. According to reports from local media, the woman is allegedly an Uzbekistan national.
The incident took place on Tuesday (9 January) at 10.09pm at Bukit Ampang View, where the victims were detained by the two suspects wearing full police uniforms.
The victims were then taken to two separate locations, with one of the suspects raping the foreign woman while the local man was brought to a bank to withdraw money to pay the two policemen over a ‘traffic violation’.
On the evening of the next day, a squad of police officers and police personnel from the Ampang District Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested the two suspects and remanded them for 7 days.
For both the rape and robbery cases, two investigation papers were opened, one under Section 376 of the Penal Code and the other under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
If found guilty under Section 376, offenders face imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping. Meanwhile, if convicted under Section 395/397, offenders face up to 20 years in jail or a fine or whipping.
The Selangor Police Chief urges anyone with information on the case to get in touch with the nearest police station to assist in investigations. He also stressed that the police will not compromise in any criminal case whatsoever and that investigations will be done transparently.
