The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) revealed that it recently seized a black suitcase left behind at the Padang Besar train station in Perlis containing 23 vacuum-sealed packets of cannabis.
The Perlis JKDM director Ismail Hashim revealed that the suitcase was found at the Railway Cargo Scanning lane at the station on 9 March and contained 13.207kg of cannabis worth RM1,320,700.

Ismail was quoted by BERNAMA as saying that an inspection of the suitcase found that it contained a blanket and a black plastic package.
Moreover, inside the black plastic package, 23 transparent vacuum-sealed packets filled with dried plants suspected to be cannabis were found.
Meanwhile, Harian Metro quoted the Perlis JKDM director as saying that the suitcase is believed to have been intentionally left behind by a passenger at the Padang Besar train station to avoid inspection.
He added,
“We believe that the cannabis was procured from Thailand and it was attempted to be smuggled into the country via train,”
Ismail asserted that no arrests have been made as the authorities haven’t found the suitcase owner. The case is currently being investigated under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
